Really weird problem I am having with my controller

I have a regular xbox, and a Microsoft xbox s controller. I was playing Halo 2 online today and everything was going fine. When the next game started my gun was automatically shooting. It would do that no matter what until I pressed the r button. In addition to this, I got no longer go to the right on the post game lobby with the analog stick; I could only do it with the D-pad.

I unpluged the controller, restarted my xbox, but still nothing works. I tried other games and didn't have any problem at all.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

No, seriously. jk

Actually, the only time this happened to me, and it was the exact same symptoms, I had to through the controller out. MadCatz make cheap, but reliable controllers for about $10 a piece.

I have three madcatz controllers and a playtronics headset. None have caused problems. And in my opinion, all work better their microsoft counterparts.

The controller isn't broken, but something is really messed up. For example, if I move the left analog stick to the right at menus, nothing happens, but in game it works fine. And sometimes I will be able to use the analog stick in menus.

I have no clue what could be the problem but something is really screwed up.
