Video Capture Card

Post by Jbregi »

I recently bought a capture card to record clips for my mods/gameplay. How would I connect the capture card to the xbox? The wire I have only has connections to the card and AV-in ports, therefore I can't play on my TV and record from there. Any help?

You can only play off of your TV if you have an AV output on your TV, like mine. Otherwise, you'll have to play off of your computer screen.

With the AV out, would that require another cable, and what color is the port? Also, if I played on my computer screen, would the game be laggy as far as picture quality?

It would require an AV cord that has the red, white, and yellow jacks at both ends of the cord. You would plug one end into the TV and the other into the capture card.

I don't know about the computer part as I've never recorded anything from my Xbox. I've heard that if it's an external card that it lags a little sometimes and it doesn't record at as high of quality as an internal card would.

Agh, I don't think my TV has an AV out... the only ports I see are orange on the TV, and I can't tell if thats it or not. The card is an ATI Wonder Pro 200, its internal. I think I'll try the computer screen playing.

A lot of people use a VCR to record, put it on the computer, then edit from there, but that downgrades video quality, but it would give you a better screen and more footage length.

If a VCR works, would a DVD recorder work also?

Basically, you would hook you xbox up to it in the input, then have it output to your TV.

wow... bumped much? anyways, I have a card now, its an ATI Wonder, and the computer its in has a 3.06 Ghz CPU, Pentium 4. The software that it comes with is pretty laggy sometimes, but that might be my RAM.

All in all, its a decent card. No HD capture, but hey, who can afford HD?
