Negative Pings in Server

I was trying to run a Halo CE dedicated server on my VPS earlier, and yeah I know the ping list on the scoreboard is very inaccurate/jumpy, but I have never seen someone's ping go negative. Their pings would eventually even out but they kept jumping down to negative thousands, which is obviously just some sort of inaccuracy.
Does anyone know what causes this? is this a port conflict on my VPS? should I try binding to my 2nd IP my host has for me?
