Post by JK-47 »

How would I go about fixing open edges? I know as much as importing the wrl file.. but from there I'm not sure what to do.

Btw, open edges are holes in your map. It makes tool barf out your model. Youc an find them with a stl check or going in border selection and pressing CTRL+A. For th e beginner, they are usually big holes that they forgot to cover. In this case, select the border and press cap. If there are 2 edges over lapping with nothing joining them together. Delete both faces and re-create them.

You would make more troubles with just capping holes.
Such as over lapping faces.
Best bet would to find the open edges select the verts arround the open edge scale the verts to zero and then weld them.

No, cap the face should work, if there is no face on the other side or already there.

Many time's i had tried cap face and all it did was screw the model up even more.
Either remake the face or weld the verts.

Actualy i do.
And to be quite honest i seriously wouldn't suggest using a rather unreliable method to fix user errors.

Ok, I did the stl check and fixed a few errors. I wanted to get an updated .wrl file so I saved it, exported it, and tried running it through tool but I got this:

Theres a face that was mapped with material 0 which should be atleast 1 which is why tool gave you that error.

I actually didn't apply any bitmaps or compile them into tags with tool, but it's working now that I did that.
