{Noob at building map}[plz help]

Ok so ive decided to start modding and making my own maps... the only problem is when, in 3ds Max, i import my bitmap, that i mad in paintshop, it never shows up. also i saaw in this tut that the guy could see directly through the top and could see his map with the dirt grass and crap.... everytime i try that nothing happens, unless i delete it then i can... please help

Make sure your materials are set up correctly. Then, there is a button in the material editor that looks like a blue and white checkered cube. Press it while looking at your material properties.

I don't use 3ds max, but I'm pretty sure this function would be the same as Gmax. If I remember correctly, you should just have to do this:

Right click your map, aka skybox, > Convert to editable mesh> select all > flip.

I think thats it, if you have already done that, I'm sorry I cant help.

no thats to start making it, if you already made it and want to see your ground bitmap you have to get the uvw map. Then edit uvw map so you can edit the layout on your map.
