Help? Somethings wrong....

Ok, I have had Halo ce for a while, and it was working perfectly.
Now, for no apparent reason, It wont display text. It says stuff like ''Picked up a plasma rifle'' But it wont say stuff like ''Someone killed blarg'' Or what anyone says. None of the white text at the bottom appears. I have NO idea as to why it does this.
