HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

ok heres the problem i can load halo by itself after i install it and put the newest updates on it(cant play halo ou the box install directx error)but when i install halo ce on my comp it starts up the halo icon screen then says i have a directx error and shuts the game down has anyone else ever had this problem or can anyone point me in the right direction on what to
i have XP HE and i have just reinstalled xp on my comp?

Go to your Halo CE install directory and run haloupdate.exe.
