HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

hey i had a post like this in teh tech&wutever and nobody answered so i went to the next place i thought i am aloud to place this post.

well, i downloaded maps from the hce featured mods tab at this website and i tried to use the maps. i made a DLed maps folder. saved all the maps i could from this site to it. copy and pasted them to my maps folder. the game wouldn't find them it was like i didn't even have them in there. so i went and looked at them. i noticed they had a .re at the end of the name and all the other maps had .map so i renamed it. now if i try to load up haloce it says that i have currupted or somthing files and it suggests that i reinstal it and it says the file that is bad is the maps i DLed. please help. is there something i have to do to make the maps playable?

u gotta extract the maps from the rar file. download winrar www.rarlab.com

is it a .rar? What file format is it?

hey thanks! in dling it now! so all i do is use it to extract the rar files and im done?

once u dl winrar, just double click the mapfile u downloaded and extract the .map file from the .rar file and extract to ur maps folder. it will say some stuff about the trial running out, ignore it, i have had mine for like 2 years now.

ya i just dled the trial, i wasn't gonna pay for anything! ummmm.... i think i broke it. earlier in the day i went to properties and changed one of my maps thing so it says opens with halo when b4 it said unknow and now all my maps say that and they all got a master cheif head on them.... is this bad?

ok, click on a rar file u downloaded. go to properties. where it says open with, click change and find winrar. then click on that, press apply, then ok. now winrar opens rar files again.
