loading time

Post by themacawguy »

the reason it takes so long is because it runs a checksum on all maps to see if any are corrupt

Yes it does take longer. I know this as a fact. Hatarn you proly have a better prossesor *SP* and when you download like a few hundred maps it'll take a while. I have loads of maps and mine takes like 5-10 mins to load(proly excagdurating *SP") But it takes ages and it took less time when i had fewer maps.
Wow wot a big. Hey willy can i get ure auto, wow look at that. Dic, dic get over here and look at this, jumping johevesis.etc

The reason for the long loadtimes is because (this is the theory anyway) HaloCE is calculating checksums on each of your maps. The reason it does this is to ensure that you join a server that you have the same maps installed. This is to prevent cheating and to make sure that maps don't suffer from version incompatibilities (how many betas did New Mombasa have?) when the maps could have the same name.

The more maps you have in your maps folder, the longer it takes to process them all.
