halo ce master server problem

Post by adolif »

i really want to play halo ce with my friend. every time he tries to get the internet server list, it says "failed to connect to gamespy master server"
when he goes into an lan server by himself, it says he failed to connect.
his regular, non-custom-edition halo has none of these problems, it works perfectly, its just his halo CE. we havent been able to play online for ages because of this problem, so if somebody could help, its a real thank you

Now someone here must know this. With almost 10,000 people on this dried up website, I would assume that someone would know the answer.
I myself would try to help, but I fear I've seen the problem before and cannot come up with an answer.
At least have the soul to say that you do not know, bump or not. It makes it easier on the person with the problem.

I will research for you, for the answer needed. And bring it back.

I've had this personally happen to me. I believe I fixed it by re-installing, but it could also be his firewall. Unblock CE, Gamespy, and the Updater.

If that still doesn't work, I don't know what can. Sorry.

I can't host games b/c of the built in firewall in my router. Port forwarding didn't work, but plugging directly into the modem did.
