The Ultimate Weapon

Post by ryan_mckenzie »

I recently had a great idea for a halo weapon, which I think would encase a lot of enjoyment. (hopefully it's possible to achieve)

Have you ever seen the Pixar movie "The Incredibles"? Well this weapon is inspired by a certain gadget from the film. If you have seen the movie, then you won't have much trouble visualizing the idea.

Say you had a small, pistolish weapon (although slightly alien-ized) that fires a beam (laser) at your enemy, and then freezes them. And you can then move them around with the beam still focused on them, in any direction your camera moves.
You could swing them away from you, or you could use this weapons secondary fire, a fuel rod, traveling at a high speed, unaffected by gravity, so it would pound your enemy "frozen on the end of your laser".

It's the programming I'm worried about, not the visual experience.
So, can it be done?

Thanks

Short = No
Long = The game engine would not allow to to make that sync, you would also not be able to move the biped around. (I don't think you can anyway)

See if Kirby posts, he is the script master.

This sounds a whole like the gravity rifle. One was made to do just as you stated for your first part of the weapon. Although...i'm not sure if it worked on bipeds...I know it did on obstacles and vehicles. This weapon was made by ExileLord. It's somewhere in the Halo2 outstanding mods section.

An application could easily do that...I might look into it again since I'm bored and I need to learn more about vectors.

I mean...this is quite old

Its a good idea. But very unfair. The target needs at least to have a chance.

absolutly lol. That's why this would be a highly desirable weapon, which should in a fair game of halo, be very difficult and risky to obtain.
Thanks patrick

Have you ever released a mod, or do you just keep laughing at us because we'll never get it lol?

Yes, to some of my friends. It's not really user friendly though.

It's controlled via an external application which more or less has basically nothing to do with real modding.

You could do this though by spawning projectiles under the player which do 0 damage and by so levitating him just like the gravity lifts. Regardless to say, this lags like a bitch. If you are going to do it only for demonstration purposes, an application is the way to go.
