teamhalo :: the next generation halo community

Post by Blade »

teamhalo was formed on November 9, 2004. We are a community dedicated to playing together on Halo CE and Halo 2 and having fun. One of the administrators, DrChaos, is hosting the website off of his very own superfast webserver, so you know there will never be any problems with the website or forums.

As you may notice, we use the word

I see your point of view, but let me say. If this is being broadcasted on a forum like this, you will (guarenteed) get people who spam and people who flame. Every forum has at least one of each. You cannot prevent them.

As a forewarning to having a site based on that, if the users get to know/do anything, why doesn't everyone have the spot of Moderator?

Well, if the point of them are to make what the users want, then why don't the users just have the rank, so they can do what they want.

I'm not being a smartass, because I know the real reaosn moderators and administrators on are forams, I'm just stating a flaw in your motto, because it can cause a conflict among members.

Yes, that is a great idea for a forum, and most forums start out that way. But when the member count goes up into the high digits (higher than what you currently have) it becomes more difficult. Keep a steady hand, and make sure there are no battles in plan. Keeping an eye on each member (which is what every forum needs) is impossible, when you exceed 200+ members.

I just figured I would input my two cents about this idea, but listen, I not saying it is bad. I've already looked over the forum, and I like the design, it's just a forewarning.

Yes, you spent months creating, contemplating, and testing the forum. See what you can do, what you can add, what you can accomplish. But you are never truely prepared. Members come and go whom are completely unpredictable. You thought ahead, which is really good, but no one can predict people. Perhaps know what they may ask next, or do next, but that does not stay forever. Things change, and the forum will change. Halomods, I bet, started out really nice like your forum. When it broke a thousand, some moderators just stopped caring. Some members stopped caring and left. Moderators, Administrators, Members...many left. But there is still hope that they will come back.

And a tip for the future, if you really are reading this stupid post of mine, is:

Be Active. Stay Active. Think Active.

It may sound corney, or stupid, but it is what every forum needs. Sure members are not always active, but moderators and administrators need to be active very often. Many administrators here just stopped showing up it seems, or are very inactive. Yomama is the most active authorical figure here at Halomods, and he listens to people, and tries his best to get the common public what they want. But he can't do everything. All the moderators cannot do everything. And yes, this does apply to you, because you cannot do everything as well. And that is what users want, activity.

A society is a living, breathing monster. Yes, a monster. Society can eat everything in its path. It needs to be fed, and I'm sure you can provide it. The more members, the bigger the monster. The bigger the monster, the more it needs to eat.

If you understood what I jsut typed above, then good.

This is all I'm writing for now, and I hope you see my side. The side of a member.
