Help Installing Halo2 Mod

How do I install a mod? It says in the Halo 2 mod...

Installation:

1- BACK UP YOUR EXISTING MAP FILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2- Apply bloodgulch.ppf to your bloodgulch.map file
3- Apply sounds.ppf to your sounds.map file
4- Apply bitmaps.ppf to your bit
maps.map file

How do I apply .ppf to the map? I put it in the folder and nothing happens...
