First off here is what command prompt spit out....

Now again, I am going through the video tutorials and when I first did that I did not really notice much... but when I got to sapian and did what Kirk said about having the ground texture appear I got....
Image
... instead of what should be the demo looks like texture that I made.
So what does it mean about the red triangles? I know that may play role with the error. ;)

import the wrl file in 3dsmax (haloce dir) 3dsmax -file -import -import mode to wrl,wrz -haloce dir -import the file, then uncheck the first two checkboxes and click ok after that you'll see somthing different, however i've never had that problem so what to do next is a mystery to me

good luck anyways

edit

probably an uvw problem

I opened the WML file and all I got was transparent selected boxes in space with nothing around it. I don't get what that is supposed to mean but here is another screeny....

In the bungie tutorial it says this for my error:
When compiling using Tool the following error message appears:
### ERROR found z buffered triangles (red).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This problem is typically caused by the overlapping or interpenetration of geometry or faces.

If not fixed, this error can lead to rendering or visual errors and anomalies for the offending faces.

Alrihgt, so how do I fix it? :(

the file that you imported points out which triangles are giving you the problem..

1. try deleteing them and creating them again

2. as it says in the hek.. look for overlapping or interpenetration.. fix this by adjusting your geometry co-ordinately.

3. From looking at your problem.. I would be 99% sure that the z buffed weren't creating your problem but instead a problem relating to your textures...

- Check your texture names in max
- Check your bitmap names
- Check that the shaders point to the correct bitmap

I had this problem with my map and the source of the problem was that I had a few textures with numbers at the end..

eg metal_1, metal_2

tool cut down my names to metal_ and so it screwed up my textures. I fixed it by just switching my names to metal_a, metal_b....

you know why there transparant, because you resetted your scene by not deselcting the checkboxes :?

Darn, I was wrong. Look at the second picture (from sapian). I cannot figure out my ground bitmap is not applying itself now...... any hints would be appreciated. :)

open the bitmap file of the ground and make sure that it is compressed as explicit alpha in the second scroll down box and your texture should appear in sapien.
