Radiosity Error: Out of Memory!
Radiosity Error: Out of Memory!
Ok so last night about 11 hours ago I set up my radiosity in Sapien. My map is 300,000 by 300,000 by 10,000
yeah I know. So I put the radiosity quality at 1 because since it is such a huge map I didnt think 0 would cover it. When i came back this morning, after waiting 10 mins for my comp to load because sapien was using about 300,000 kb of memory
, I noticed that the radiosity was at 0 0 0, but it said Radiosity Error: Out of Memory in the corner. I managed to scroll down to look at my map but it was just gray, meaning that the first radiosity process had started. Do you think the problem is either 1. My map is waaaayyy to big or 2. The quality should be set at 0.

dude......... your map should not be 300,000 by 300,000, Because you will have a HARD ass time to put in stuff to fill it up. No one wants a map with just flat land (or as I call it, another grass+trees+rocks map). 300,000.... do you know how long it will take to move from base to base in a hog/banshee? consider this, my map is 12,000 by 12,000. In a hog to drive from side to side, it takes about 30 secs in a straight line. You map is 25 times bigger. To drive across in a straight line would take.....12 minutes. Thats right, 12 minutes to get across the map in a vehicle. with all the twists, and turns, maybe even 13-14.......
now to answer the question, you probably ran out of memory due to the fact that you need so much to calculate radiosity for such a big map

Re: Radiosity Error: Out of Memory!
-_- quality 0 and 1 dont mean how much it covers it just means the quality of the light and how much it bounces, quality 0 just means less shadows and at lower quality.I didnt think 0 would cover it.
