tool.exe problem making map

Ok I am done creating my map, now when I run tool.exe it gives me a problem maybe someone can help. I will include a picture of the problem I am having. But if that does not load here is the text version.

then nothing happens and I can't figure out what the problem is. I tried it with different maps I have created and still the same thing.
Also I select each of the 1 - 9 options and still the same thing.

I hope someone can hlep me out.

The degenerate triangles mean that you basically screwed up somewhere in the making of your map's model in MAX, somehow managing to create a whopping 1357 open-edged triangles. Open edges are not allowed in HALO .map files. You must have every edge sealed for it to compile. As for the shader error...you must not have named a material or two correctly in 3DS max.....double check your names to make sure they match existing shaders.

To help prevent the open-edged-triangle situation, always use 3D snaps when creating new faces to link objects, and run the modifier "STL Check" Every once in a while....it will tell you if there are any problems such as open edges, double faces, overlapping surfaces, etc, etc, that way you can fix them before more are created so you don't end up with such an immense number of errors. :wink:

i got 400 open edges and then i did the thing u said to check errors... well it had none so wtf and what is 3d snap??

Well i found the problem with it by opening the error file in 3ds.. its some box well not a 3d box but lines that make a box and its really really really small and was found right in middle of the map

i have this problem, but the strange thing is it happens with the tutorial mapfile scenario tags..

its some problem i dunno wtf i happening but ur the first person to have it happen aswell.

sry for this but:

um buddy thats ez all u did is type the wrong word in lol.. its not buld its structure and not cache.. u added stuff thats not suposed to be there ike eztra spaces..type it like this... so like this C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition>tool.exe structure levels\test\tutorial tutorial

ook well heres my updates problem.... i got to tool and started structure but i got 400 messed up triangles so i opened up the messed up models in 3dmax nad it looked like the frame but the names for the files or models that r messed up are.....VIFS 01-401 and VSep 01-400..wtf r those to me it almost looks like the frame..help me!!

i HAD the prob, i fixed it cus my ass got burnt rom flames about DUMBASS TYPING THE RONG THING U N00B

and ive read the whole tut again and it says type 'tool.exe build-cache-file etc etc...'

so i really dont know where stupid people like me got that from.
