tool error help please

ok, so I am trying to make a new weapon. I based it off the warthog turret, and gave it a custom body (to make it less bulky) and i used chimp to save it as a .jms. So i go to tool, and type in "tool collision-geometry weapons\turret" and it gives me these errors:
### ERROR couldn't update edge #399 <red>
### ERROR couldn't update edge #422 <red>
### ERROR couldn't update edge #422 <red>
### ERROR couldn't update edge #399 <red>
and a few others. so i found the edge #399 and i deleted it, rebuilt the .jms file. and i went to tool, and tried to compile the collision geometry. but i got THE SAME exact errors:
### ERROR couldn't update edge #399 <red>
### ERROR couldn't update edge #422 <red>
### ERROR couldn't update edge #422 <red>
### ERROR couldn't update edge #399 <red>
I'm using GMAX, and so i tried to import the WRL file and try to fix it, but nothing shows up, not even if i zoom in. I also tried to select the open edges, but it just selects every edge on the outside of the model.

Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

your edges are screwed up...

and deleting them wont do anything.

ok well then how do i un-screw them up? I tried to make the same in 3dsmax instead, but that just gives me thousands of errors just like that. So how would i fix this?

import the WRL...and it tells you whats wrong.

ok, so i imported the wrl, and it gives me this giant red grid that encases the entire map. It lags the crap outta my computer, and i don't know where to start, or what to do with it now.

EDIT:It's pretty much just giving every friggin edge since my map is an 'outside' map, so i'm guessing that i'm doing something horribly wrong. I know that 'cause i tested by deleting different sections of the map (portions or ground, the cliff walls, the bases, etc....) and the amount of open edges goes down. so i'm guessing that i'm doing something horribly wrong.

EDIT 2: I raised the skybox by about 2 units, and i got rid of most of the errors. i now have like 30 errors instead of 300 errors, so i might just have to place a box around it =/

yeah...its annoying fixing errors. you can be the leetest map maker and still have a crap load of errors.

Well thanks for answering all my questions anyway andrew, but i think i will just start a new map and try not to fuck anything up this time lol.
