problem with tool

was following a tutorial and i got to the first section that involved tool.. it told me to run the "bitmaps" command and i got this stupid error

Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
### splinter_ground.tif
==> !!WARNING!! failed to open TIFF: unsupported TIFF orientation (must be top left) <==
you might recognize the map name

is it 64x64, 256x256, or 512x512?

Show us the bitmap please. I have the bad feeling you used a specific color that has been reserved for other purposes..

wat kind of tif did u save as? tif 8 or 24 or w/e it is?
