Vehicle Tags

If you notice, there are only tags for the vehicles that are in multiplayer, and there are none for any others, although the files are still there. Is there some way of extracting all of the necessary files so you can put other vehicles such as the wraith into MP using the H.E.K?

I'm not expert on this, but there is most likely a way for a person to do this with some of the existing tools outside of HEK, but there's a problem with adding vehicles...

You know the vehicle customization in the menu for Gametype setup/creation? According to my understanding so far(someone please correct me if I am wrong), the vehicles that are able to be used in the level are the ones in the list through that menu. And through the Unicode Text items in the maps and wherever else, it only searches for those vehicles, I believe even if you have all vehicles selected. So until someone can explain how to effectively edit the Unicode Text items in the game's MP vehicle configuration, I don't think there will be a way for a while.

However, if you're willing to sacrifice, say, the Scorpion, you can go into Guerilla, open /tags/vehicles/scorpion/scorpion_mp.vehicle, you could set everything to match the Wraith. However unless you can extract the meta information and the tags from maps which have it, you won't be able to gather every bit of it up to get it in full working order.

Needless to say, it would be challenging until someone can extract the proper information or write up how(it might be already on here, but I'm too lazy to look it up). Happy to be of help, sorry to have wasted your time(if that is the case).

The Wraith only has a model...
Not a collision model.

MNC, WTF are you talking about? The Wraith has a collision model... ever try ramming it with a hog in SP on AotCR? :shock:

Next time read the topic Dark Cloud, the tag assets for CE (HEK) does not have a collision tag for the wraith....

What if there was a way to make that vehicle custimization menu refer to 2 types of vehicles instead of just a warthog. EX:the number of warthogs also controls the number of (put your homemade vehicle here). Get it? I think if you had a really powerful vehicle, you could "match" it up with the Scorpion so in the vehicle custimization menu where it has the number of Scorpions, that would be the same number of whatever powerful vehicle you just made. Eh?

There needs to be some sort of program to extract the necessary files. Does anyone know of one?

someone would have to find a way to extract a tags components, then take hte model and put it under data\vehicles\wraith\physics, do the model compilation and there is your collision model

couldnt u just make a copy of one of the vehicle tags and then change it and add it

Thats what I thought, so I tried it and when I tried to put it in one of my levels using Sapien, it says "cannot create wraith: OUT OF OBJECTS"

Couldn't you just use HMT to extract the model from Halo PC, Open it in 3dsmax (Need a wavefront plugin for that I think), Scale it up to the correct size, then export it as a JMS (or whatever the extension is) then use tool and compile a collision model. And then you've got your collision model. Then find every instance of "wraith" in all the tags, change them to "wraitha" and then build the map. Once that's done, go in with a hex editor and change all but the "to enter the wraitha" unicode strings to warthog and take off the extra "a" in the "to enter the wraitha" so that looks good. And theoretically (if it does use unicode to find vehicles) it should create one wraith for every warthog.

yea but itd be hard to get it to the right size...what i was thinking is you know how in the tags you get told where all the vertexes are and junk like that? well just manually put all those in and then connect them in the way that seems best then export...granted its a bit harder than other methods but if you want to be exact this is probably the best way to go

Well all you would have to do is get master chief from Halo PC, find how much you need to scale him to fit the master chief reference, and then just use that number to scale all the other models you need.

ok once u have it all made...u can put it into the game pretty simple (if this theory holds true)....of'course, u'd be sacraficing an existing vehicle (i suggest banshees since they r gay)

1. make a .map (have ur vehicle tags included)
2. use the CE to PC .map converter to convert ur CE map into PC format
3. open it in HMT
4. switch the meta of ur new vehicle with the vehicle ur willin to sacrafice (make sure u record the META of the original vehicle incase u wanna change it back...its saves space rather than backing up the entire map file)
5. convert back to CE format
6. put in maps folder :D

I have created a wraith animation model and physics, then made a brand new vehicle tag, all of these were created from the actual model that the gearbox professionals used, however, it still wont work, I think you have to edit the compiled tags, but I am not sure, what to edit :roll:

u'd prolly have to rename them to what the original models were
