Holy water - SOLVED

***SOLVED***
My water has a big hole in the centre right where my level is. In the hole there is no water plane, but there is still fog underneath.
At the moment I have:
- a water plane with a texture set to the b30 water and with no collision
a map in the centre of this water
a big hole in my water
I have tried:
- remaking the plane
moving the plane
resizing the plane
fiddling with the water shader

Its because the Alpha for the bitmap only takes up the outside.
Just make a new water mask.

I've modified the water-mask so it is all white in the alpha channel, then recompiled the map, and there is still exactly the same hole in the water. It must be to do with the water-mask, since the hole is the same shape as that black section in the alpha was, but I must have to do something else. Anyway, thanks for the help.

That hole is where Deathisland would have been:)

I have tried making a simple map with just a water plane, a skybox and a couple of islands... and there is no hole in the water there. That one works as normal, so what's wrong with this map that makes it so different...?

If you used a different water bitmap then it would have worked. If you used the same death island one then IDK what you did differently. But the reason the death island bitmap won't work for your water is because there is a hole in the middle where death island was put (like matooba said).

But I removed that hole from the alph channel and it still won't work...

if u removed the hole from the alpha mask then make sure you have
1. Redone the bitmaps command to make it into a .bitmap | tool bitmaps levels\mapname\bitmaps
2. Make sure that you have made sure the water shader is pointing to the correct places.
3. Make sure that you UVW the water texture. i always use 24 x 24 x 24 in Box mode.

Ahhh, I think I may have forgotten to UVW map it... thanks a lot.

Ok, I'm solving this problem forever. I have put together a comprehensive pack of all files needed w/directions in one file. They include, Tags bitmaps and shaders, water cubmaps, water fog tag, max file showing correct setup and names of material id''s, a scenerio using the water w/fog applied to it and more. Feel free to come to my resource website

Im currently spending Kudos of time to organize tuts, tools and lots more to make it easier for you to find stuff. Also, I have a huge team of Halo modders that are Specialists (Modsquad 617) in mapping and modding. You would benefit huge to signup and ask questions there as well as here. Not to mention that you can post your Youtube videos right into forum to go right along with your tutorial.
