how do you skin bipeds to change colour by team colour?

how do you skin bipeds to change colour by team colour?
I tryed making a sentinel shades of white like MC, and made the muilipurpos map dark blue like MCs, but it dident work... any one know how do it? is it in the bipeds change colour tags? elites and MCs are differnt and stuff, does it make a differance, or is it the acual skin?
