im new, so hi all :D

so i was redoing the c40 scenario file, which TheGhost has compiled into one very lovely, 1337 package (major kudos to TheGhost, Lightning, Kornman00, SteelixB, and everyone else), and when i opened the scenario file for c40... sapien would wait for a looong while, and then suddenly close... am i doing something wrong? Do i have to compile everything else from scratch by extracting all the tags using HEK+, and THEN opening the scenario file using sapien? or am i missing a compilation of tool first which i must compile along with the scenario, and THEN opening the file? or do i really have to start from the beginning, extract all the HEK+ tags, export the c40 map structure to 3DS max, export the .jms, and then compile, THHEEENNN use sapien? ::pant::

or is it simply that the scenario file is ready to go?

No the directorys are wrong.So you installed got the FullTag set package.Ddi you install HEK?You have to extract ALL the files from a map in order to recompile it.

no... wait... something's wrong patrick...

i DID install HEK... i even installed HEK+, Ghost's new full tagset (i individually placed ALL files into the rightful directories and overwrite'd the old files that had the same names, and it took me like an hour!), tool++, and Kornman00's final version of his Guerilla... I have the COMPLETE tagset, with every single tag ever used to make halo... everything...

That means, tool++, HEK+, HEK, the other half of the original tagset which came WITH HEK, and Kornman00's final version of the guerilla....

PLZ patrick, or someone else, I know i'm asking A LOT (especially from you Patrick...), but can u give me one more shot and help me figure out my problem with compiling C40? or actually viewing it in Sapien to place the items? Cuz all i really want to do is a quick compilation of the C40 scenario (i have all the item collections and scenery that i want to add), then open sapien (SUCCESSFULLY) to populate the map with H2 weapons, and play it...

and to clarify my Sapien question a little more... What tags might I be missing? My debug text is above, so if it helps, then plz skim through it... i thought Ghost's single player level scenario files were all ready to go in that full download, which i already extracted into each respectful folder. Isn't all i have to do just open the scenario file (c40.scenario) in sapien, and shouldn't it run correctly? Or do i have to do some kind of complicated decompilation of the tags used in c40, add scripting (ugh...), totally remake the bitmaps and redo the structure in 3DS max and import it, some totally un-understandable tool parameter, or some complicated guerilla stuff? I'm obviously a novice/newb/n00b at that kind of thing, and am NOT experienced...

PLZ guys, if you're willing to help me, i won't force u, but i'll be forever grateful if u do... :cry: :cry:

well then, plz help me start from scratch...

By that, i mean, i'll start EVERYTHING over, including using a new tagset, reinstalling and stuff. Now, the only *basic* thing i want to do right now relating to maps, is redo the c40.map file with H2 improvements like weapons and vehicles. So the first thing, would be to extract all the vehicle and weapon and bipeds tags that i would be using, using HEK+, m i right? and then i would place all the right tag files in the right folders and directories in my tags folder, am i correct? THEN i would compile c40 using tool and compiling ghost c40's scenario tag. Then place everything in sapien, and then building a map cache file, and i'd have my finished product, right?

Honestly, i don't think that's how it works.... Can someone explain to me clearly what i would do to make this remake of c40, b/c i'm having trouble with even the most simplest of compilation and exporting... sorry for all the pressuring and bothering, but i promise i'm learning something while i'm at it, and this'll help me do custom maps with my own made structure nd stuff, so plz help a helpless man...

o and i think u should ignore the steps that i THOUGHT would be correct, the paragraph i posted above my last post with my description of compiling c40. If u guys can give a few short sentences explaining how to compile c40 correctly and place the new tags in with sapien, i'd be the happiest man in the world. TY SOOO MUCH FOR HELPING

guys.. i promise this'll be my last question... ever on this board mebbe... i kno i've been bothering you guys and making such a useless topic about such a minor issue, but plz oh plz help a newbie contribute to the modding community... i don't plan on being legendary like jahrain, M4573R51337, kornman00, Tiamat, and SteelixB... but i'd really like to experiment...

if it won't be such a bugger, PLZ help list the steps to completely and successfully compiling the redoing of the c40 scenario map cache file in some short sentences.. i BEG of you
