3Ds Max 8 and HEK

Hey. I've recently been trying to map. However I am having trouble with water. I've followed at least two dozen tutorials and none of them worked. I have a video card that shows water ingame so that isn't the problem. The only thing that I can think of is maybe 3Ds Max 8 is incompatible with biltzkrieg. I would try test this in Max 7 but I can't open map in that version for some reason.
Anybody have some information on this?

Have you named the water material water!$
Have you used the old shader?
Have you add a fog plane?

I've named it water!$
I'musing b30's water.shader_transparent_water shader.
No.

For the shader, is all you have to do is copy the shader file to tags\levels\test\my level\shaders? Or is there more to it?

I'll try removing the $ when I can get back to map. Thanks for the suggestions.
