Hey guys, Im new to mapping and all and I was wondering, how do you mix bitmaps as shown in this pic?(Like how do you make the grass and the sand blend together
)
Please can someone write me a tutorial or show me a place where i can get a tutorial on this.Thanks.

The "mixing" effect is a cool feature in Halo.
Alpha maps, which "place" where the "sub" bitmaps are shown, blend parts in together. The detail maps are what show the grass/sand, and the base map is what shows the alpha/colored layout for the map.
