(start in CE root directory)lets pretend the map name is pierules
make a folder in:
data/levels
and call it pierules...so it shoudl be
data/levels/pierules
now inside:
data/levels/pierules
make two folders..one called bitmaps and one called models..directory should look like:
data/levels/pierules/bitmaps
data/levels/pierules/models
now inside:
data/levels/pierules/bitmaps
you want ot paste the .tif file.
in the:
data/levels/pierules/models
is where you place your level.
for example:
data/levels/pierules/models/pierules.max
etc etc etc

MMkay, so i have a folder, and the destination file is the .tif of the map..
So, i go to C drive, then program files, then microsoft games, then halo custom edition, then data, then levels, then "pierules" , then bitmaps.
THEN i click the file, and get the same error:
"you need to set your working directory."
sorry if im bothering yeh...

This time ( well, every time i open the program, only on the first try of that time, i get this message: Couldn't read map file './guerillabeta.map' along with the normal one )
Also, whenever i go to OPEN, it takes me to the tags directory. does the folder go THERE by any chance?

oh yea (hehe) you need to run the Tool stuff, and it makes a folder with the proper stuff there, then u open it LOL
i haven't used that in a while

eh...so i run tool, as in the tutorial, but at the point where kirk says "we actually dont want that, so were gonna go to guerilla,..." and then he messes with the bitmap file. There arent any steps before that. Its just like you attempt to do it, but you cant, so you go to guerilla and fix the problem. MY problem is that guerilla wont work. Did i miss a step in TOOL?

Ok, THAT problem is fixed..
NOW im faced with another one...( surprise surprise )
I got the bitmaps file to open, followed the tutorial, saved the bitmaps file, made the shader according to his instructions, then when i go back to tool, i type
Code: Select all
tool structure levels\pierules pierules
am i doing something wrong? i get the error that tool cannot find the .jms file
( i used the CHIMP thing to export the listener window, saved that as a .txt, took out the unneeded things, and then saved as a .jms. after that, i popped it into the models folder of pierules, and then followed the instructions for step 7 )[/code]

did you make the .shader_enviroment file?

by Drugged Up Squirrel
yup. its in the pierules\shaders folder....

does it have the same name as the bitmap
example:
pierules_ground.bitmap
pierules_ground.shader_enviroment
and is simpel parameterization checked?
my spelling sucks today

by Drugged Up Squirrel
yup.
I dont know if thats the problem though. it keeps saying something about not finding the file pierules.jms
where is that option at? ( simple parameterization )
EDIT: oh, its in the shader file. i opened shader with guerilla and it was checked....
This is a bit of a predicament..
EDIT: I think the problem lies somewhere between the keyboard and the computer chair...
I think i did something wrong with the .jms i dunno...*needs 3dsmax*

I've had the same problems. Thanx to both of you, now they are gone. But I have another problem...
I can't export as a JMS file in 3ds Max 6, can anyone help? Do I need a plugin?

don't bump topics and yes you need a plugin, its called blitzkreig and comes with the HEK tools, but if you're using Max 6 your gonna need to download the Max 6 version, i'm not going to post a link because a trillion other people already have, search these forums and you'll find a link.
