ok well tried radiosity through sapien.. my 3 numbers showed up as like 21, 23, 25... so that would take forever and a month. tried tool approach for it. i think ive got the right syntax but it never works right. any help or experience with htis would be greatly appreciated.

heres what i put into tool and what came out:

F:\HaloCE>tool lightmaps levels\test\test\test 0 0 0.5
Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
i'm going to render debug lightmaps for 0 of levels\test\test\test, and i'll sto
p when red+blue+green = 0.500000.
Hit control-c now if this isn't right.
WARNING: 1 clusters in structure_bsp levels\test\test\test have no background so
und or sound environment.

Well. Before you do that, did you run radiosity_quality 0 or 1? And how many polygons does your map have?

i was running radiosity_quality 0

poly check... 12298

im doing aotcr.... or at least 1 section of the bsp

but i think whats making it so long is a huge light i added... but i had a problem with having a sky. i set it to not affect interiors, yet the light from the sun would make shadows inside rooms and such. so i just added a huge light pointing on the outside geometry. so if theres no way to fix the tool problem.. any one have a suggestion on how to make sure the sky's light doesnt affect my interiors?

Dont make any +sky faces. That blocks the skybox's light.

right. i tried that too. but what im trying to do is have 1 area be pretty light and one area be darker. i want the interior of the control room dark and only have the lights i added, while the exterior of the building has sky and daylight with shadows. i dont really care for having the looks of a sky above you, but i just want the outside lighter...

so far i have tried blocking the light from the skybox, but it made the ouside way too dark. then adding a very bright light instead of a sun, which took way too long to run radiosity on. keeping the sun there effects the interior room and makes everything one level of brightness

:( quite a sad dilema...

You could use the Lightmap "Spraypaint" tool. Just select a white color and spray your level with a white lightmap, lol.
