Sapien not loading for anyone else?

Post by RunningRiot »

Ok.

I got HEK last night, no problem. I install it. First thing out of the bag, I just want to play with it: I boot Sapien. "Load *.scenario." No problem. Select "tutorial.scenario."

I see Sapien flash on the screen, and then close.

In the debug output file, I see:
05.05.04 18:58:10 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
05.05.04 18:58:10 reference function: _write_to_error_file
05.05.04 18:58:10 reference address: 401b13
05.05.04 18:58:10 Couldn't read map file './sapienbeta.map'
This is weird because: Tool.exe has the near same entry in the debug file, and it appears(as much as a command line tool can APPEAR to do something) to work.
05.05.04 06:44:46 tool pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
05.05.04 06:44:46 reference function: _write_to_error_file
05.05.04 06:44:46 reference address: 42ca20
05.05.04 06:44:46 Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
Anyone else with this problem? Its not a big deal, I'm sure its just a stupid little thing I'm doing wrong, but I would like input.

Dude, I got the same problem w/ sapien. Went to open that tutorial scenario,
looks like 3 or 4 windows flash up and then nothing. I'm also about as clueless as you on how to fix it. What you could do is post this problem on Cortana.org -- this is where most of the devs are. I would have already but their forums were having some "technical difficulties". I strongly suggest trying to post this problem on Contana.org's forums. Gooldluck and keep us informed. L8er.

It turns out I figured out the problem. When you load up Halo, it might tell you that the graphics driver is unsigned/unofficially supported, but will allow you to load. If Sapien finds that, it wont even load.

Updated video drivers and it worked fine. Until I realized that my fan on my Radeon 9500 has been out for months and that was why my computer was so unstable. I've got a fan in the mail, so all is well.

YEEEAAAH!!

Dude ok how long did you wait for it to load??? cause mine takes like 2-3mins to open fully and then its fine from there on. So maybe just try waiting a little longer.

Did the same situation happen to you? (ie: the windows opening and closing).
I check the task manager and Sapien is NOT running. So waiting longer won't help if it terminates.

oh and the toolbeta.map and sapienbeta.map and guerillabeta.map blah blah blah, are just residual traces from when they used these tools for halo. your map will compile just fine:)
