Alpha Channel Problem when exporting TIFF with Photoshop 7

Post by Grenadiac »

Molkien ran across this problem. Has anyone else seen this?
...well saving out as a tiff from PS 7, kills the imbedded alpha, and rather than being a seperate channel, it just masks the tif. I imported it into premiere, and saved out a single frame as a tiff, and now it works
He was referring to seeing the alpha channel work in the bitmap tag while using Guerilla.

he is doing it wrong. he needs to flatten the image first i think (merge all the layers). that should fix it. but i am using 8 so i dont know if it works with 7.

Yes, reportedly 8 works fine. Photoshop 7 seems to have a compatibility problem. Thought I would let people know in case they run into the same thing.

well i just ran into a problem with it in 8. i made a tool.bat file to run tool.exe with out all the command promt crap all you have to do is edit it in wordpad. well anyways if you add a "pause" without quotations, it will pause the app until you hit a key. well this is a better way to see errors that arent put into the debug.txt. well it says that :
==> !!WARNING!! bitmap with greater than 1-bit alpha being compressed as DXT1 <=
=
bitmap created: #512x#512, compressed with color-key transparency, 170K-bytes

well when you use the texture, it will do the alpha thing and cut crap out.
