You don't NEED to detach the base, you can just have the whole level one part and link it to the frame, its just that having parts helps you keep track of it.

In order to see if you have everything linked properly press the "H" button and check "Display subtree" The frame should be at the top of the list and all of the way to the left and the "children" will all be lower and to the right. EX:

Parent
--Child
--Child
--Child
----Child of child*
Other parent *
--Other child*
Ect...

*= most likely won't be in the hierarchy of your level, just for example.

You can get some though, although the parent of most objects will be the frame.

Ya I know u have to deatach it but I cant click on it because it thinks that it is just a part of the sxybox! :(

So u can attach more than one object to the frame, but the frame can't be linked to more than one object? So this must be a two way street - ur being linked to or are being linked from. I think I get it.?!?!?!??

Just link everything to the frame, and link the frame to nothing.

Sow do u get to the STL modifier - is it on Gmax? I can't find it n e where

No the STL modifier isn't on Gmax Im sure of it

Well, do a vertex weld on each vert by selecting them all and increase the threshold steadily. Then Just try looking for edges that are open and basically just close them.
