How to make AI Melee

Can anyone tell me how to get AI to use a melee attack? When I'm near one in game it does seem to melee me...

you know, you should really put a "?" on the end of your thread's name.
so people know your asking a question and not saying how to do it

AI bots holding energy_sword but they cant melee...

that picture is assault_valley semi final. the bot is holding an energy_sword but unable to melee. i'm holding a covie flamethrower and throwing my version of the needle grenade...
