Recording Halo 2
With the coming of Halo 2, I figured that with the improved...everything..in the game I would strike up an Xbox campaign of filming. But in order to do this I need the right materials for video capture/transfer. Some have suggested run an S-VIDEO cable from the Xbox's adapter (that you have to buy separately) to your computer. I would rather do it like this: plug the Xbox's RCA cables (red, white, yellow) into what I think is called a DVR, then have the DVR's cable run to my computer. Can someone tell me what a good so-called DVR would be to use? Something not too expensive, like something almost simple that will get the job done with acceptable quality. Anyone get me?

you can do is get a tv tuner and then hook your xbob up to it with the cable cord (not the RCA white, yellow, red cord the single RF adapter), and there ya go. Most tv turners have a recording program that comes packaged with it.bobthehobo wrote:what at the TV? are you nuts? lol you know how that turns out?

i don't ...im poor lol, spent all my money on xbob i know the cheapest you can get one right now is for around 230 tho right? but thats for an analog camcorder...how much for a digital one?Dan!! wrote:I have a digital camcorder (I'm sure you do too), I could just hook mine up to the tv using RCA wires and hit record.

depends on what your using to capture it with...vhs quality is low but better then some tv tuners...(specially if you have SVCR), if you use a dvc the quality will be okay...(i've only seen two captures and they were both shrunken down so i can't tell), if you do it to a camcorder the quality will be same as vhs, if you do it to a digital camcorder the quality wil be high. The main problem will be exporting it, i suggest quicktime because it keeps the highest quality (to me at least), wmv is a lower quality but much better file size, and avi/mpeg are (just a tad darker), good for larger files specially when you export them with certain codex such as xvid, or divx.skysox89 wrote:so if you record directly from the tv instead of just filiming the screen the quality will be better? just a question

Capture from various sources: Capture video to your PC from a TV, VCR, camcorder or DVD player or anything that has the red, white. or red plug ins.
Real-time video compression: Video is automatically compressed into the MPEG-1 (Video CD) or MPEG-2 (DVD) format while it is being recorded to your PC, saving you lots of time and hard disk space.
Hi-Speed USB interface: Connect using your Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port for the highest quality video.
USB bus powered: This ConvertX draws all its power from the USB bus, so there
