ok i always thought it was retarded when people asked for song ideas for their movies,but i have started to look for music that could be used in a movie and it is always just some guy yelling into a mic..............so any tips, or ideas?

sorry but, it's your movie so think of something cmon! and you should only choose music that fits with what your movie is about.

ya......thats kinda obvious. i just thought somebody might have a kickass song that they thought would go great in a halo movie. thanks for the responces though.....kinda

try a billy talent song... they have a variety that would probably watch anything ur doing... and there good!

For my video, killing spree, I was looking for a song that had a good rythem, then built the video around that... Maybe that'll help you.

Seriously though -- check out the work from trailermakers on a thread in this forum (it has Trailermakers in the title), and look at the music synchronization (particularly on the "one way" sketch) I find that to be the reason for music -- Halo had it easy -- they had an orchastra come in and do music for what they saw on screen... you have to work backwards unless you want to hire the London symphony.

Edit: As to my personal preference, I find a lot of classical music can provide an ironic twist -- though yes slipknot, etc. do have some merit in this field. Song 2 by Blur is perfect for anything car-related/stunt video pretty much, but for comedy "The Entertainer" was perfect in the video provided below. For the credits, one movie I used Kotke (I believe that's his name) -- a classical guitarist, another I used a loopie of Dave Matthew's Band's "Crash"'s opening riff.

What's really important though -- and dangit I won't say it enough, unless you're lucky, you'll probably need to edit your song -- use Audacity or a similar program to do it.

Edit #2: Personal Opinion -- listen to music during the concept phase -- I find that listening to very very abstract and artistic music (such as Radiohead -- its always the crazy ones who do the most unique work) seems to give me more creative ideas. Just listen to a lot of music -- even if its not inputted, it can alter your mood so you think in the mood you're trying to portray... ex: Kinda hard making a depressing drama when you laughing watching the Simpsons snuggling with your girlfriend or wife with daisies and little men singing umpa-lumpa songs. No -- its much easier to write depressing when you're listening to music about suicide/death/loss. Your mood is very key in the mood of your work.
