Hi everybody, im really desperate here, and i need help like hell. Heres the situation. I downloaded the Halo2 mod and decided to try it out. This is what the read me said:
Installation:

1- BACK UP YOUR EXISTING MAP FILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2- Apply bloodgulch.ppf to your bloodgulch.map file
3- Apply sounds.ppf to your sounds.map file
4- Apply bitmaps.ppf to your bitmaps.map file
5- Run the game and create a LAN game (to prevent anyone from joining your game, unless, of course, they have the mod as well) with all vehicles (to get a real sence of what the mod offers).
6- Join a specified Halo 2 mod server (look for IP's in the forums)
Alright, this is what i did, stupidly, (But i did have a backups folder!)
1.Deleted (<--bad word) bloodgulch.map
2.Deleted sounds.blah
3.bitmaps.blah
4.Then i did 1,2,3,4 in the quote.

Ok, when i turned on HaloPC, i went to a LAN game to try it out, the map Blood Gulch was in black letters and not clickable. So i decide to delete what i have in "Halo/MAPS" and replace those maps with the maps from my backups folder! But when i tried to delete this it said,
"Cannot delete ui; It is currently being use by another person or program

Close any other program and try again."
These are the maps that remain in my Halo/MAPS folder,
bitmaps.map
sounds.map
iui.amp

SO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME. I NEED HELP!!! NEED MORE INFO? JUST ASK ME!!!!

Ok 'pros' not needed. What you need is PPF-O-MATIC. Get it http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=8. Follow the Instructions on that page. It's not that hard. It's as simple as click click double click drag and drop.

what do you meen. you dont have a backups of your bitmaps.map and want them back to normal? cause if thats it then you go to my computer and then youll see cd drive. if you already have halo in it take it out. then double click it and it will say something like please insert disk. dont delete that. insert the halo disk and wait until it loads. then when the option screen comes up for halo delete it. and under the cd drive it should be open and you should see something like cab files or something. go to it and the youll see a bunch of cabs find witch one has bitmaps in it. i think its 4. but then right click the bitmaps.map and hit extract to specified folder. and extract it to you maps folder of halo. then go to your halo maps folder and find the cab folder and find bitmaps.map copy it and then go to the maps section and delete your original bitmaps.map and then paste the new one and your bitmaps are back to normal.

open up ur halo CD in WinRar

browse to the cab files

extract the contents of the cabfiles to the appropriate location, extract only the ones in a map folder in the cabfile (ex, Halocd\cabfiles\cab1\maps)

congratulations, you have efectively restored your Halo maps to their original condition. (including the Bitmaps and UI files)

dude, start over with an entirely clean instal. Dont just re-install over the old folder, delete (not uninstall) the old folder. Then re-install, then apply the mod.
