I want to know how to make maps night time or snowing as I've jus been messing about with what weapons fire and want to mod more than that.

Well, most maps are easy. Actually, pretty much all the ones without water are easy. The man to ask would be Lebowski.

You can't make it snow.. yet.. it wasn't built into any mp maps, as for night.. you could just inject black into the sky bitmaps

Yea... That damn water is still too bright in my DI mod. But just switch all the sky dds's with the ones from the Truth & Reconciliation. I also use photoshop to edit and darken the ground textures. There is a sky plugin for HMT3 that allows you to take out the haze too. It looks sweet.
The pic on my homepage has an example.. There are also a few in the screenshots section.

So there is no way to change the actual lighting in the level? Just the textures... I guess we will have to wait for SDK.

yea the light and the water are my only 2 issues to resolve. Everything else including the suns lens flare have been solved.

how did you kill the sun light source?
Posted: Tue Dec 09, 2003 6:17 pm
by Lebowski
Well its not really the light.. more so that crazy bright glaring lensflare in the sky. And I just replace the lensflare of the sun with that of a plasma nade. It is so far away you can't see it. The light value is still there, hense one base has a little to much light. But it does kill the sun lensflare in the sky.

very nice site
as for the really dark "stealth gulch" im not positive how it was made.. but heres a guess.. made sum really thick fog (after all textures were turned balck) and then made the fog black and made solid distance in sky option very close..

Well It looks cool in the dark, but im wanting to have it in the dark for gameplay as well. It makes it much harder to see your opponent, and if I can somehow make all the MC's have a glow, it'd be even cooler (somehow get the glow from the plasma sword).
