Two Betrayals Opening Cutscene

So why, may you ask, am I creating a topic separate from the main Fireteam Delta topic, even though I am posting content directly related to it? Good question. There are two answers really:

1) There are quite a few images here, which would be silly for your browser to load every single time you wanted to reply to the topic.
2) Some people might miss these pictures if the thread moves on too quickly
3) Most importantly, I'm not just showing off. I have taken some time out of FTD in order to share some information about [elec] tags...

Electricity tags (tag class: [elec]) are quite rare and obscure tags in Halo. Although I'm not quite sure what they do, I do know they make pretty lightning effects and can cause problems if ignored. They are usually attatched to pieces of scenery, like the bridge lightning in Assault on the Control Room or Two Betrayals, but they can be attatched to biped, too. This brings us neatly onto a problem. If you try rebuilding Two Betrayals, albeit any map with the Monitor in, you will find that the map exceptions without fail as soon as the monitor appears, even if you didn't make any changes, at all. Try rebuilding Assault or Betrayals and you will find that the bridge lightning has misteriously dissapeared. The cause? Halo Map Tools does not rebuild any electricty tags automatically. The solution? You have to either null out the dependency in the rebuilt map, or add the tag as an additional item in the rebuild box. I would advise the latter, as it fixes the problem completly rather than merely putting it aside.

In conclusion, I know this problem won't affect most of you at all, but I just thought it would be nice to share the solution, to make sure nobody else has the same hardships I had while trying to solve what turned out to be a very simple problem.

Phew... Onto the pics. All images are thumnails to full size versions. Enjoy!

Ah the elec tags, I doubt a lot of people have heard of them. but that is interesting on how they are not rebuilt with the map. hmmmm. simple solution though.

That's... really unusual. If it's listed as a dependency, it should be included in the rebuild. The tags actually don't exist in the mapfile?

yeah, that is odd. It obviously must be an issue with the program. Try to make sure it doesnt happen with eschaton? Maybe maybe?

they're for the electricity the monitor shoots out I'm pretty positive.

Edit: sorry, accidently posted. The electricity in d40.map, when he's stealing the files from the POA.

Incindentally, if you rebuild d40 without adding anything (I have done it) the monitor doesn't use anything to steal the files. He just looks at them like a retard.

lol philly. We'll just not ask why. k?

And is this why all those maps arent rebuildable? I recall Pepsi asking a while back, and nobody knew. Did Philly Figure it Out?

Most maps that aren't rebuildable are because HMT screws up in one way or another. For example, the missing tree in sidewinder.

it looks a bit more blue than usual too, i liek teh shinies, i think the blue might be a reflection of the ground or the monitor though

Yes, it's the reflectiony type thing given off by the Monitor.

Umm, skin multipurpose some form of pink/purple, skin the bitmap to be silver?

Or It's a cubemap.

Or it's both. Or it's that cutscenes make evrything ridiculously shiny. Or it's because I'm awesome.

Explain why Chillout cant tho?! Or Timberland? Any map in FTW i did that had the original MC model in it I couldn't figure out for the life of me why it couldn't be rebuilt for multi play. Multi play meaning ...

1. You can have the modded map and join any stock halo server hosted/dedipaid.

2, You could have the modded map and anyone running stock Halo could join your game/hosted server without exceptions.

If I remember correctly these maps were..

Chillout - no clue
Timberland - no clue
Sidewinder - missing tree of course
Icefields - same dam tree
Beavercreek - no clue
Wizard - no clue
putput - no clue
longest - no clue

If there is a program out now that can compile these map back correctly using the PMI process then please let me know cause I like to finish thoes map in how i first envisioned them instead of having to settle with what HMT was going to allow me to do. And no, i dont want to finish them for some ultra big release or anything but mainly to say i finished what i envisioned from the beginning.

I firmly believe that Halo2Rules began this "make Halo better" trend back a few years ago with SilentKnight stepping his work up a notch with HaloDX. Then i took there work and took it to another level with FTW and now its time for Philly to take what i did and go ever further with FTD.

I guess in a sense you could say the torch has been passed to Philly now on this whole "beautification" trend and it heading into alot of new and exciting areas. You've always had my support Philly so go for broke man! Just cause i don't comment daily doesn't mean i don't check on your progress <3
