what you do to make reticles is open hmt > bitmaps > ui/hud/bitmaps/combined/hud_reticles

you should recognize the bitmaps. then extract the dds, edit, etc

and remember to save the dds as ARGB 8

Well, considering this is pretty much skinning.

read this, and it will tell you how to save stuff as DDS files and such..

chocolate, Graphic Converter is the only program on the mac that I know of that has .dds saving capabilities. and even then, I still struggle saving that format.

go to www.apple.com and download the graphic converter demo and try that program. just use the websites search function...or you can search for SquishDDS...

I am searching for a method to save files with A8R8G8B8. DDS is not a problem, but the option to save with 8-bit alpha ^ ^ ^ I can't find...maybe I should learn to make my own program to do so eh? 8)

Not familiar with it, if it doesn't give the option to do so look for some plugins or something.

If all else fails you could use CE's HEK and make a .TIF format, compile, convert, etc..

yea... graphic converter does not give you the option to save as A8R8G8B8... nor does SquishDDS...

I am not familiar with that method you posted Kitsune... but by CE you mean Custom Edition??

or you can ask someone to save it for you. you send them the file in .TIF format and they can save it correctly for you. this would be very tedious but heh.. i dont know mac's either.

yeah CE, HEK = Halo Editing Kit.

using the program "tool" (used by the cmd prompt), you can add a tif into the data folder (ex: data/vehicles/blah) and compile it to a .Bitmap.. then tag it, then convert/import into PC.. long process ftl

doesn't gimp support DDS files?..

LOL. Tool is nothing close to command prompt. You just use command prompt to run tool. :P

eschaton can do that, I believe... and so can HHK... I believe...

I use HMT for bitmaps

He's just spoiled is all. It's such a shame HMT doesn't seem to work for import/export of that particular bitmap. Needs a dds inject which is incredibly tedious on a mac. What with dds expanding to DirectDraw Surface and all.

No, I just don't use HMT as a rule, it sucks. I used to use it before I got Eschaton 0.5, then after that I never skinned again.

Maybe if you're a mac user. I've been using HMT since the beginning and it works great for me still :D
