Hey New modder

hey ive modded before but i wanted to start again and i know the basics (like changing projectiles and making the sky custom designs and how to make active camo things and from messing around today i made you be able to drive the hogs from turret, etc.) and today i started using sparkedit to make my maps even better but i have a few questions.

1) this one would help me a lot to see how other things work (thats how it always works with me) I know how to shoot a vehicle but all it does it kills you is there a way to acually shoot the tank out like a bullet? ive tried changing the settings after changing the meta in HMT and ive also tryed messing around with physics but that didnt go anywhere. any help?

2) and in spark edit is there any way to like make your own map from scratch i havnt had much time to spend messing around with it but still is there a way?

3) and last what other programs do i need to be a great modder/mapmaker i have:
1. sparkedit
2. HMT
3. DXTbmp (so i can edit the textures in bitmaps)

anything else?

1) i would help you but i completely forgot that
2) i think you would have to do CE > PC (CE to PC)
3) you need HHT you might wanna look into getting Eschaton

HHT is halo hacking tools right? i saw that on a tut but didnt look in to it is that where you can make like tanks fly and stuff?

For number 1, you use dependency swapper to shoot out another object.

But if you mean to shoot it with the speed and power of a bullet? You gotta mess with the program's options.

uhhh, just change where it spawns in eschaton, X coords.

1) the vehicle doesn't have any momentum so it just spawns and falls. I don't know where to find it any more but there is a plug-in for HMT that lets you set the x,y,z of where the projectile (or anything that is fired by a certain weapon) spawns.
2) the only way I can think to do that without resorting to ce->pc conversion is by editing a piece of scenery to be big and flat, then give it collision. then make your level on top of that (by the time possibilities like this had opened I had already moved on to CE so I can't help you here).
3)photoshop and lots of plug-ins.
Also, I haven't looked into it but I think people have found a way to use tools from the HEK with the PC version.

For number 1 i suggest CE->PC because it would spawn where ever you shot at...through chain spawning :D

And changing the projectile spawn to be "999" doesn't accomplish that in a faster, less annoying manner?

1)TRY THESE, THEY WORK!!:

A)open HMT
go down to [jpt!]Damage
find "globals/vehicle_collision"
change the following values

Minimum Damage: 0
Maximum Damage: (Minimum): 0
Maximum Damage: (Maximum): 0

OR

B)open up HMT
find [coll]Collision Model
swap the scorpion with the plasma grenade


I prefer the second one because if you change the globals in the first one then you can't splatter anyone with the warthog.

is there a tut with that download? cause i didnt see one. i played it though and it looks pretty crazy ill check out what it looks like in HMT see if that helps at all

I thought that the archive there called Chain Spawn was the same as the folder "Chain Spawning" oopes my bad.

I dont understand why you guys are complicating things so much.

Brief tutorial for shooting vehicles
1. Get 64 plugin pack
2. open map
3. Select weapon to shoot vehicle
4. select a triggers reflexive
5. Look for a float with a name like "Origin -x"
6.Change that float to be 999
7. Swap in vehicle in place of projectile
8. Done

Was it really that hard?

thought that would shoot through the map in some areas.
