i recently started trying to mod halo with Hmt. i save the .map file and close the map file and then i start a game.i get in the game only to find the weapon i tried to mod is gone, is erased from the map. i even tried it with starting weapons(pistol and assult rifle) and it made me not start with weapons.

Well thats why, After opening HMT go to the dependancy swapper.
Then go to the weapon tag
scroll down to projectile
then change it to the tank shot from there.
the way you did it just kept swapping the bullets through the guns.

Check the menu, if you can't find it I suggest Eschaton. It is laid out fairly easy.

Jesus, people, there is no dependency swapper in HMT. It's in HHT or Eschaton.
We have a reason to talk to you like a noob, because it seems as if you are new to modding. We're not being harsh, neither was bcnipod. We're just trying to figure out what the matter is.

it was a mistake. he went to post and then both of us posted before his for submitted.
@ Modfox, yeah also mac version was made by a different person than who did the PC HMT. that is why mac HMT has a dependancy swapper and the PC does not.

either way, this kid needs to dep. swap, just get Eschaton or HHT, wither one works
PLUS: i think you can make a sniper shoot tank shots in HMT, all you have to do is click on the tank proj. then click swap, then choose the sniper proj. in the drop-down menu. that would work except if you want the tank to still shoot tank shots then you can just export a meta of the tank shot (the one disguised as sniper shot) and then just dont save, then re-load the map and inject the meta into the sniper proj.
that should work

You could do with a bit of weapon editing as well, though. Otherwise you won't be able to see the flame.
