Question on Harbinger

I was wondering if I could just convert, say, weapon tags with Harbinger..?
Or would I still have to do it the old fashion way?

I thought you could only convert maps?

Apparently, you can only convert maps. Someone helped me out.

What is this 'old fashioned way' you speak of? I though that you just converted the header, opened the map in HMT and recursively extracted the meta, no?

i asked conure about this right when it was released and he said..

once you convert a CE map to PC that converted map is now totally converted tags and all. that converted map can be used like any other doner map for PMI needs.

i think i got that right?

dont quote me thoe..

yeah...hmt fubars with header changes when trying to recursively extract. harbinger actually converts the tags to pc.

Technically harbinger doesn't convert tags. It batches the target CE map into memory, replaces "1's" tags which don't actually exist within the maps with the HPC versions (in the case of find all it replaces bitm and snd! tags, which reference CE bitmaps.map and sounds.map = wrong offsets = "corrupted", with the HPC versions as well). I might add that 1's are most likely the reason a recursive extract fails with HMT. To HMT, those tags look like normal tags but with offsets of negative values (so it crashes when it tries to edit and/or extract those tags). The only time you'll have some issues using tags from a converted map will come from the fact that any internal bitmaps and sounds (whose data is kept in raw data instead of bitmaps.map and sounds.map) won't be extracted and imported into a target map by HMT. HMT expects the tags to be like PC files with those resources consolidated into bitmaps.map and sounds.map rather than xbox files which are self contained. It'd be like extracting a mod2 tag but without the verts and inds.

Block fort didn't have the original Spartan model, and I was too lazy to put it in at the time and my friend was very impatient. He put them in, and didn't do the Model Injection correctly, then decided to shoot chiefs out of a pistol and explode them.

After that I did it, then we rejoiced and uploaded the edited Hog Wars version to our server.
