All-around Halo Mod.

I've been coming up with ideas to make an all-aroung halo mod. I want to make it more like real life. I already finished the ui, but some music i keep putting in it keeps cutting short after 4 seconds! Also, I want to have some help making this mod. I need models imitating real life. And I need people to help me inject them, and pmiing to make the mc's marines. Anyone up to it?

You have been modding longer than that, haven't you? I'm sure we all appreciate your enthusiasm, but a modding team really isn't needed to inject music or make the marines into MCs. Sorry.

Seriously, I'm prepared to get pwned by the manga-gods, but he's asking how to do some really simple stuff. If he's been modding for ages now, surely he would know this basic modding, or no?
Anyway, I'm going to be the good Samaritan for a change, and post some links:

That covers basic dependency swapping and stuff, but it is very in-depth.

It's to do with track length I believe. Are you trying to import a track that's longer than the older one?

Philly, it might be up to about 0.3 seconds longer. Also, can anyone please send me links for real life versions of the human weapons and human vehicles? I would only want the covie vehicles for the sp mods because you have to use them. You cant make a game type for sp mods. And if by any chance, can anyone get me real life versions of the covie weaps? Just in case...

well for the music...why dont you dl hek and just compile a sound tag..then CE->PC.
the new modders lack patience. not everything can be done with the halo pc tools. somethings need outside help. if you are ignorant to use hek then you wont get anything done that is above the level of -mediocre-. everything that people try to do was outstanding back then. now in order to truly make an outstanding mod that just blows your brains out you need the outside help.

Don't need to, as long as it's a campaign map. Just swap the bipeds with MC.

btw, that music thing everone keeps speaking of..
are people actually replacing the whole chunk? you know it has to be the chunk right? you also (by my experience with adding new music) need goldwave and the xbox codec for it. if not, things will come out nasty.
id post more on it but i cant remember all the steps right now, but i did read a tut on it somewhere, but that was over a year ago, but i think i found it here on halomods, but i dont know where it is.

When halo plays music it divides the songe into smaller chunks, or permutations. These permutations are stored in a single .sound tag. A sound looping tag is then made out of the sound tag. When the song plays, it starts on the first permutation, then data within the sound tag tells tells the next permutation to be played. Futhermore, there may even be several sound tags making up the song, or even several loops! So when you're injecting your music, you're probably only injecting it over part of the song, whether it be a permutation or one .sound of several. You can't inject sounds larger than the original because of the way the raw is stored, so you need to create your own sound tag and rebuild the ui. Short answer: CE. You can compile your own sound tag, divide it into chunks, and create any supporting tags necessary to make it into your sound enviroment or sound scenery, etc. Please correct me if I made any mistakes in there^^^ I'm not that experienced with sound, I'm just trying to help the community seeing as how not many people know.
