Shaders, multipurposes, and cubemaps.
What are you trying to make shiny then? I could send you a skin quite easily.

im trying to make a brute p Rifle, i need to make it shiny so it doesent llook like the color is matte, i need a metallic color

ill give some pics of what i got so far.
As you can see the color is well DULL. Needs alot of work.

As you can see still REALLY Dull.And id you look at the prongs sticking up at the front you c there red instead of blue.

Don't skin the entire gun red.

it wasnt suppose to be like a mean thing, i do it at the end of all my posts so i can see where my post is, so when i need to edit it i can find it easy, but ill stop sorry.
Anyways i did the soso tag i the gun didnt change color or anything so... I need some major help to make it a shiny color instead of a dull color. Want to give it a try then tell me how you did it

shaders and cubemaps make things shiney in halo. you can also use some photoshop techniques to pull this off too.
i suggest you use google and search for "shiny object photoshop tutorial"
also.. your pixel shaders in your vid card control this also. if your using 1.0 shaders you wont see things like 2.0 people will. if im correct halo tops at 2.0 by default but even i have a target command for "-use30" for the hell of it.

In photoshop, you can just increase the contrast or lightning

Your gun didn't need a shader of lighting.
The reason it is dull is because its just red, no texture to it, just red. If you want it to be less dull, edit the texture again.

No i used a program to make it, not photoshop but something else Photo perfect, the only thing about that is that the paintbrush and things like that are not so good, how much is photoshop???
