Hi I'm trying to apply a custom d3d9.dll to Halo (by putting it in the Halo directory) but Halo just starts up with a window telling me that "We are sorry but you need DirectX 9.0b installed to run this program. Please run Halo PC setup again to install DirectX."

Can someone please help? I don't want to have this thread left with dead ends and empty answers.

Installation:

Take d3d9.dll out of the /PC folder and place it in your "Halo" Directory.

Take d3d9.dll out of the /CE folder and place it in your "Halo Custom Edition" directory.

Then download the DirectX runtimes:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 6652cd92a3

ACTUALLY....

pepsi711...your the reason why I can't say WHY I need Halo to stop giving me errors with d3d9.dll ....

I'll give you a hint..it involves that big mod you made which you received so much praise for .. .

Ummm I don't understand. I'm modding Halo Trial here unfortunatly and it doesn't have any d3d9.dll file in the main Halo Trial folder. If it finds a new d3d9.dll in the folder where the halo.exe file is then it will run the d3d9.dll

Are you trying to say that I should take the d3d9.dll file out from CE or the full version of Halo?

yea...so I don't want to give away any more details..because its unlike anything thats ever been done in Halo..ever. I've checked. I've been around here for sometime now...and I hope my idea works. I tried recreating it or faking it but it didn't create the desired effects (although it looked nice).

So once again I can't say WHAT it is..because then everyone will try doing it.

Uhm..really its just a hit or miss kind of thing. If its a hit then I'll fine tune it to perfection. I can let you try it out or something early on..but I first need to see if it will work!!! I've gone through so much reading and google searches and yada yada yaa researching and everything. I just hope..*hope* that it works.

So..can someone explain these instructions a bit more?

Take d3d9.dll out of the /PC folder and place it in your "Halo" Directory.

Take d3d9.dll out of the /CE folder and place it in your "Halo Custom Edition" directory.

Like I don't think people understand what my situation is. I want to run a custom d3d9.dll with Halo by placing it in my Halo directory BUT Halo is saying that I don't have Direct X9.0b installed :?:
I want the program to run with my custom d3d9.dll without giving me an error.

well if your refering to this vid i have on youtube..

http://youtube.com/watch?v=o-eM8VbMDzw

its not mine. its been around for sometime now which i made a vid on. if you read the description you will see its a multiplayer hack for halo pc. nothing more, nothing less. it can be found on one website particularly which im not giving the link to.

if you happened to find this and messed your halo up using it then i dont know what to tell you. ive only done 1 bg mod and that was the playground mod. none of the mods ive done have ever gave anyone problems with d3d9 files nor have i or can i mod a d3d9 file.

so please dont refer to it as "my mod". it isnt. the d3d9 file is a multishader hack.

and i do understand what your taking about. you found a shader hack for halopc and you need help installing it. have fun sorting it out.

so to cap this up...

i made a youtube vid on a old hack named d3d9 multishader hack. this dude found it, is trying to install it and now is giving him direct 9 errors.

this is directly from the read me..
this a d3d9 wrapper i made thats pretty basic since im new to d3d in general.

the xqz currently only shows the players through the walls when their shields show after theyre shot, i havent completely figured this out yet.
and i can do wallhack but i have the same problem as the xqz effect.

the wireframe frames everything except the chat text, since i have only been able to detect things by stride until i find more specific methods. but still it will go completely through the map allowing you to see everyone, just keep toggling it.

to come is font functions once i figure it out, so i can make a menu and it wont be key dependant, and ill change the binds later on so they dont interfere with phears/xares trainer, which is the best one out so far.

questions comments?

anyone who knows d3d or some other aspects dealing with it, please feel free to IM me as any help is appreciated since i need to learn d3d for more features.

oh and phear/xare maybe we can work together, as i can manipulate the memory through my wrapper as well, but i havent really tried searching for the offsets except just ammo and nades. IM me if you can.

k later
so no dude. its not mine. and like i said.. you found a hack and need help installing it. its the only thing ive done with "d3d9" involved on it is making that demo vid for it a YEAR after it was released. i wouldnt be so upset over this if you were implying i was making hacks for a game i like. and the vid was made to show some people at a different forum how people can use cheats in game. the same goes for the aimbot awareness vid i have on youtube also.

its about awareness not about spreading it. i didnt think someone would actually go out looking for a hack.

and cause your halopc d3d9 was overwritten with the hacked one the haloce wont correct it. you have to reinstall halo.

you tell me how being able to spot people through walls isnt a hack/cheat?

yes, it is a mod, but that d3d9 shader you brought up yourself in reference to my name is a cheat. and a well known cheat at that.

and the vid was made to expose cheats people use in our clans servers, not to promote them.

the answer to your question is this...

reinstall halo.

you have corrupted your d3d9 file by modding it.

Ok let me retell everything. I got Halo Trial. I got a sweet idea to put bloom in Halo. Right now there is no d3d9.dll in my halo folder. It doesn't come with that file in there when you install Halo. If any d3d9.dll file is put in the Halo Trial folder with halo.exe folder..Halo will run using that d3d9.dll! So by putting a custom d3d9.dll file with a bloom mod on it..it should fire it up in Halo! Thing is..Halo isn't choosing to run it..or any d3d9.dll file in the Halo Trial folder. I'm trying to find out why and how I can fix it so I can add a nice bloom effect to Halo. Thats it! No aimbots or supposed hacks. Any help?

To trial? Inpossible. I could understand Halo PC but there is no way your going to be able to do that in trial.

Yeah, I've never seen a d3d9 mod for trial. I'm going to assume that it isn't impossible, but would be very difficult to do. Get it running on PC or CE first and then see if you can get it to work with trial.

spikes122 I cannot tell you how badly I want this mod to work. I'm not using it to cheat!! To the contrary people say I cheat when I really don't. You know when you own everyone and the admin or whoever accuses you of cheating? I get that a lot mostly because I've been playing Halo (BG) for so dang long but seriously guys I'm going insain here trying to find a way to get this thing to work. I'm not using it to cheat! Bloom is such a great idea for Halo!!! I was making a Halo trial mod once and I was wondering how to put bloom on it and back then I had to textures and on PS add bloom then make em seemless. It didn't create that great of an effect but nonetheless it was an OK effect. Now I just want a fully genuin bloom effect.

I've tried 3 ways of doing this guys so please help =(

1. DirectX Tweaker

-It has a post processing effects that you can apply but bloom is not on the list so I have to create a shader for it. Problem is, when any post processing effect is enabled Halo just rejects it and runs without it on. Sure I put some Anistrophic filtering with DirectX Tweaker on Halo but it isn't accepting any post processing effect because of that..problem it has.

2. Swiftshader

-Swiftshader is a software D3D render. You run D3D games with it and you can apply custom shaders like bloom. But once again Halo just won't start up giving me that error when I insert Swiftshaders d3d9.dll file.

3. Custom d3d9.dll

Custom made d3d9.dll that links directly to a .fx file which has the bloom code in it. Once again Halo just won't start up..

Please help guys!

so i was bored and did a little research and this is what i think now...

1. get off trial. people who "pwn" in trial are nothing. come play halo full and play some real players and not trial kiddies.

2. get a better gfx card. your running all these programs trying to tweek your card for some reason so im taking it you have real aweful fps. no tweeking program is going to solve your issues with fps unless you just get a better card period. in the end the programs your using are going to eat memory and cause other isssues. for starters you said your 1.5 OC'd in another thread? wow.. you just need a new computer period. sorry.. but thats seriously low..

3. there is only like 4-5 decent trial modders here. they would have to help you.

Pepsi, I don't think you really understand what he is trying to do. He is trying to improve on halos graphics engine. Not because he is on a dated graphics card, but because the engine is dated. I found this in his photobucket gallery and it seems like he might be on to something.
