does any one no how to make a plasma flamethrower?

well i was thinkin of some mods that would be cool to make and i thought of makin a plasma flamethrower (shoots plasma flame) (no duh) well i tried to switch the bitmaps on the flame thing for the plasma contrail and it said something like the file had to be DXT 1 or somethin (im using the blood gulch map) so does anyone no how to do this? (tell me)

Just do a meta swap of a plasma shader and put it over the one for the fire, It should work.
I've never tried this myself however.

all im going to say is please go read some tutorials.
if you dont know what dxt formats are there is no need in going into the meta swapping/dependency's your going to need to do to even make this work.
heres my question...
why make the it shoot any kind of flame when the flame thrower does a fine job as it is. just make the flame colors green...
you need to find a skinning tut. theres tons of them in the tutorial section. im not going to provide links to them cause if you want this mod bad enough then you should at least put in the effort to learn to skin and what not.

i already did that and i wasnt swapping dependencies i was injecting textures and the thing said it has to be dxt 1 format yes i no what it is i was just asking if there was away around that.
