[WIP] PepNess Redux - New WIP For PMI Add-Ons

well as ive told a few people were working on a redux version of the pepness project finale. if you dont know what the finale was ill simply sum it up...
the pepness projects was me and nessas attempt to reskin all of halo multiplayer to the point it looked different then stock halo offering a new look to a 4 year old game but at the same time making it 100% playable in any server without exceptions. consider it like a visual facelift for the game in textures and lighting.
well, since this has been out since june and ive got a few emails on things needed to be changed and such we have opened our files again to retouch and rework what we thought was already completed. i know for some they have said that this project got them to play halo again so we figured lets just push this a step further and give thoes halo diehards more reason to step back into a pub once again.
so far we have been working mainly in bloodgulch trying to perfect that as much as we can. were still keeping the sunset theme but making it more present. we added rain and the bugs into it so it has a nice woods/swamp/marsh feel.
screens of what im speaking of..

i think bloodgulch as a map itself is done. i really cant think of anything else to tweek on it visually since 90% of everything there has something new to it.
off to deathisland...

looks pretty good, mostly you graphics card
the inside of the BG base needs some attention though as well as the end of the edge of the icefields bridge (stretching)
keep up the good work man

yea, i know there are still tweeks to be done here and there.
btw,..
its not the gfx card. i let someone beta a few things on a 5500 and it looked just about the same. also been tried on a 6800 and looked dead up the same.
the main thing people are noticing is frame rates when running this. you have a good card your frames will be ok. your run the damnation were working on using a 5500 and your lucky to see 10fps.
but hey,.. you figure most people by now would be on a 6 series at least right?
the main thing your going to need to see this like it should is a card that can enable specular/shadows in the video options. if your card can do that then you should be fine.

your card just looks good to me because my graphics are shit...
no water
no shadows
no specular
etc.

this mod looks mad

so i finally spent a few hours tweeking sidewinder out. now in the screens below its going to look mad dark but it isnt that dark as it looks. the pics went darker when i resized so i cant help that. just didnt want big pics to be posted you know...
well i finally did like i wanted with the lighting making it even more and viberant casting the light on surrounding objects like halo should have done in the first place. also retouched the cliff walls to add a little more depth into them. it almost looks bumpmapped but isnt. good old skool PS trick right there. also fixed my warthog lights so the light casting now has a farther reach to light objects. i removed alot of the base markers. like.. thoes covie things they stick on the walls and such.. i hate thoes. just make things tacky imo. redid the ice on the frozen ground puddles and.. gezz.. just a ton of little tweeks and such. i cant remember them all.. lol!
oyea.. pics of course..

also i was wondering if anyone was still running the pepness finale? i need atleast 2 beta testers. and they have to still have the original finale project. there are a few exceptions i make for people like ryder who is running the same card as i and possibly cryptic. caboose jr is always a tough but fair critic. if you 3 have time drop me a pm or add me to xfire or anyone still running the finale.
xfire: foolishlunitik
i guess im off to begin on a few easy maps like putput and damnation. also thanks for the feedback guys. really helps seeing people like it and im not just wasting my time redoing alot of this just in spite.

putput is complete finally. man i hate messing with thoes florescent lights. the map looks more clean to me by getting rid of the caution strip in the tele doorways and totally killed out the lock light. took the wall textures and darkened them some to add more of a grunge effect to the map.
screens..

off to damnation i think...

OMG, you are the best PC modder ever!
Ima make a campaign mod inspired by this, "Halo Legendary", and "Halo: The way it was meant to be played".

while your compliemt is nice i do have to say im nowhere near even called best or one of them for that matter. there are many modders out there who have gone from halo or some that still lurk around that could rip this to shreds. im only using hmt to do all of this. true modding would be on a global level in skins, models, tags,.. well just all of it in a mix.
if you think im good then you seriously need to check out works done by some people i look to for inspiration such as decoy, conure, rossum, thinkreddie, ducktape, explosive american, halo 2 rules, quaglinoman, NiTrOuSoXiDe!, pacifica and so forth. thoes guys are some of the tops i know of during my modding period.
on that note damnation is finally done. man.. i went through hell with this one. i wanted to keep a general theme going on with darkness and playing on subtile lighting to make things eerie but then again not to dark to take away from the map. i moved alot of things and even broke out hht to null somethings to give thoes with lower end cards a chance to use specular here without robbing their fps. i may go back to this one later but im happy with it as it is. also the skys from SW/IF are here now too. and the normal of touching up pics like the green dripping goo and what not.
pics...

so there you have it. im goign to knock out wizard real quick. i knew 5 mins after releasing the finale i totally forgot to do 3 things. now i get a chance to fix them.
