before you install, clean the disc off. either with a static free cloth, or with your shirt....make sure theres no scratches or dust on the disc, and open your cd tray, and blow on it to get rid of the dust that may be in there, then try again. there are some issues with halo pc and vista that i dont know what they are exactly, but there are some.

The disk not being clean wouldnt make that kinda error. It would say it cannot read from the source file,Or something along those lines. Not that the file is being used or disk may be full.

It's not vista cause I have vista and I installed halo fine, but 2.9 rating? I have 4.8.

yeah andrew_b was banned because the mods were being full of themselves again and felt he "threatened to spam halodocs", so he's not allowed to post. I think it was something in his sig.

Why would he spam his own website?

It worked when I had Vista Home basic....

Alright thats good, congrats. That's also odd though, why would it not work on premium, but would on basic?

Make sure you have to correct driver for your sound card, from the look of things I would say thats your problem.

I don't have a sound card. Use your eyes.

First off, the minimum of vista is BS, so upgrade to about 2 gigs of ram and you'll run vista just dandy.

I ran halo on my vista basic perfectly before, its not a problem.

HMMM...

i would personally say its cause you dont have a sound card. I dont know why but im just thinking it is...

I have had many problems like this "You do not have enough RAM to run this game perfectly, you may need to turn some settings down." and in the install it quits cause my computer doesnt go with the requirements.

but have you always had this computer with no sound card?

Try this: go into ur controll pannel and go to sound. check if there is anything in ur playback tab. if there isnt then u havent installed ur motherboard driver (onboard sound). and if that doesnt work well... if all else fails go to staples (or any computer store) and get a cheep $15-$20 sound card. :-)
