Halo Music
Halo Music
How would I go about changing the music played in halo? Say I want to use music from my iTunes library instead of the Halo ambient sounds? Could I do that? And I am on a mac.
Why would you want to replace the best game soundtrack ever?
Does HMT work for Macs?
I would like to help.

For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.
There's a couple of programs called HMT for mac. They're just completely different. They don't do sounds. You can d-swap sounds, import/extract the meta of a snd! file from one map to another. But no way to edit, export or import sounds.
And really, HMT for mac is a lot different from the windows version. It has some features v3.5 doesn't have, but doesn't have a lot of features the windows version does. Which always causes confusion.

Wait, I could swear I posted before you.

there are several sound formats within halo, common ones including ADPCM encoded WAV, and OGG Vorbis. I have tried to add seperate music to halo before, but it is formatted strangly, it seems that the music is stored in about 5 second chunks, which all would have to be individually edited seamlessy to get anything done. Even so, you wouldn't be able to touch some of the file. I'm guessing that Bungie set this up in this fashion in order to prevent punks like me from ripping their music (and they succeeded, I only got small chunks of each song). The farthest I got was adding the first 5 or 6 seconds of one of my songs to the main menu, only to have it cut out and be silent. So no I don't think it is probable without converting from CE, ESPECIALLY if you are on a mac, with no sound injection/extraction or CE to convert from.McJix wrote:Don't sounds need to be in a .ogg format to be injectable? Or is that just with the later versions?
This information is based purely off my experiments so please prove me wrong

What you are seeing in the sound case is the different permutations. Many, if not all, ambient sounds use permutations to create a continuously changing pattern of sounds so it never gets repetitive in the game. The same thing goes for UI music the standard back round music for the UI has 46 "alternative endings" (I.E. what will create the varation in the music). Also there are some music injecting tutorials on the web, search/google IS your friend

yes, and that will give you the first 5-6 seconds of the song over and over. also that example uses the ghost loop, which has one track and one chunk, whereas most things that you would want to inject your music over (bungie's music, ambience) has numerous chunks. Also with the ghost example, as you slow down and turn, the music slow and deepens (which is really hilarious)
I was wondering if you could get your whole song to play (without pitchbend
