Its called a router...some peoples router doesnt like intruders (people trying to join your games)...

i hav the same problem and its annoying cause i want peopleto join my modded games, but they cant. I even have the router's firewall off cause it doesnt help much cause my router's an 802.11b so its outdated. Sometimes ur
ISP can block ur ports, and I think RoadRunner des cause my friends have same problem.

Make sure you both have the same map, if someone has a modded map other people can't join it unless it's done a certain way, make sure to have you and all your friends have the same modded map. If it's not modded try what everyone else has said.

I had this problem as well. It's relatively easy to fix, but is also a bit of a lengthy process. Grab a snack before starting.
It all depends on how your router sets up its root page (i.e.
http://192.168.5.1 or whatever it may be), but in order to fix this problem, you need to open up ports (also known as Port Forwarding) 80, 2301, 2302, and 2303 to cover all your bases.
Here's what you do:
1) Go to
this website.
2) Find your router among the list. Don't know the company or model number? It's on the router; look hard, it's there, I swear.
3) Select your router from the list, and a new page listing all different kinds of games, applications, and software will load.
4) Find and click on Halo. (Be smart: use the browser's search function; it's a big list.)
5) Follow their easy-to-use instructions, and you're done.
If you do not have a static IP address to begin with, or are not sure, they have a guide for that as well, found
here.
Turning off any firewalls you may have, and telling your antivirus to ignore Halo as well as GameSpy Arcade will also help a load.
Good luck.

Nope! That's the beauty of it; it makes no difference which version you have. Halo1, Halo2, Halo3 or even Halo4 (depending upon how many ports you wish to open) will work quite nicely. In essence, you can name it whatever you'd like. Its only function is to remind you which program is using that port you just opened; nothing more, nothing less.
Name it "AwdBawlRocks" if you so wish.
Cheers.

I've tried that but no luck, I've also tried turning on dmz.
EDIT: I can join game but after a inute or so it says the host closed the game when he didn't and I can stiff see him there. When I try to hosting they can't connect.
