Would it be possible to make a map compatible with more than 16 people, and then altering the Halo files so when u create a server u could go over the limit of people in the server??
Just an idea, probably not possible

It's hardcoded into halo.exe. Gearbox was persistant that 16 be the most. I dunno why. I've gone well over 32 MC bipeds and not lagged at all.

the made it 16 people, becuase the latency over a network, not because of how fast your computer can process 32 mc's

the only reason why that's a problem is because whoever they hired to write the netcode did a pisspore job at it...no offense but if you make a multiplayer game, at least make it not lag on LAN play. use counterstrike's example, 150 or less ping on the worst dial up. if halo 2 ever makes it to pc i really hope no one lets gearbox get their hands on the project

The real reason they limited it was because bungie and mircrosoft knew that gamespy sucked and couldn't handle 32 player games for Halo.

its not possible to change how many players there are rite now. but if you've heard of the matrix online its coming out soon and it can hold at least 10,000 people in 1 server! plus its the entire city of new york with no loading points and u can go into every floor of every building. i mite stop modding halo when this comes out but ill be back for halo2.

Its an MMORPG, but it looks cool... Most movie games that come out turn out to be shit... If they dont make mistakes like SWG than this game will be a very good one... I have my doubts and they are fortified by reason and suspect, I would wait for some REVIEWS, otherwise its money wasted(possibly).
Oh, and I dont think that they meant 10000 people on one server... even 8000 is a HUGE stretch from what the top-of-the-line servers are capable right now. If theyre claims are true(or maybe you just heard wrong...) than all I have to say is, wow.

stop posting spaces!! y dont u make ur own forums site and then u can pay 4 ur own bandwith u waste! the matrix online features u as a person that jst escaped as a freed mind and u work ur way up building skills. u can jump from building 2 building and run on walls and all that awesome stuff (except fly like neo

) but the cool thing about it is that u can hack anything in2 it like hack the best weapon in or hack new skills in2 urself! umm about the 10,000 people in a server i might have heard wrong but i remember hearing some commentary about it on the new dvd and they said there was some new type of hosting out or w/e that makes that possible

Lol, and their should be a way to make people with high ping, say over 110, to not join ur game. My comp crashed (really) when this australian 6-year-old joined my game with like 2000 ping.............
