Mac OSX modding for original Halo

Post by OldManRich »

I recently bought a Mac OSX copy of the original Halo for my 5-yr-old son. He's getting slaughtered and I thought to mod the weapons in the Halo maps to give him a fighting chance. Where can I find the HMT.dmg.zip modding tool? I need something to mod the maps that will run on the Mac OS and able to mod the original Halo. Could you lend me a hand? Thanx.

no one here at halomods condones cheating, and if he is infact 5 years old, i have 2 things to say

1: the game is ment for 17+, sure, people younger then that play it, but 5? come on, let him retain some innocence

2: congrats to him on being able to play the game at all, must be a smart kid

can i request a lock on this topic?

I'm not sure if he's talking MP or SP. If it's SP I don't see why we don't allow it. Unfortuanetly I can't answer your problem.

Lock the topic? The kid loves the game

Post by OldManRich »

Appreciate the two replies. Don't see why a visitor to these forums would want to "lock" the topic, however. I bought it (it is mine by God and Anglo-Saxon right) and don't see why I can't multiply the punch of a faux bullet. If someone can ask about how to make hogs fly (which I saw in one of the posts), giving a 5-yr-old a more lethal faux weapon seems well within the realm of reality and ethicality. Cheating? Come now.

Oh, yeah, he's also playing Unreal Tournament 2004. He's getting good at it. He was playing the UT demo and I bought the full UT game when I bought Halo. I played Halo on my massive PC gaming rig quite a bit for a while myself and did a lot of modding on it. When I bought Halo for this here iMac, I knew what I was getting. Halo (original version, at least) is quite a bit calmer and less disturbing than Unreal Tournament. Little Dude has been on the computer since he was 3 yrs old and seems to have a knack for it.

Making hogs fly is diffrent, thats a novelty, where as a super gun is an iffy subject, if ur intending use for sp, then sure, we can tell u how, if its mp, wouldnt work any way since the effects would only work when your host, and then everyone has those effects, which is one of the reasons why a 1080 aa sniper doesnt work on halo pc/ce/mac

edit: a 3 year old playing ut? unbelievable, this i would pay to see

Mom sez...

Post by OldManRich »

Little Dude's Mom sez to tell you he is "always the good guy" and that he knows he's shooting the bad guys. Thinks he is protecting Mom in someway, I guess. Really, in Mom's defense as she says this, Little Guy gets upset if Dad and him play with Nerf guns and we tell him he has to take turns being the bad guy every now and then. He cries, hates being the bad guy. He knows what happens to bad guys. While Mom (quoting here) doesn't like the blood and body parts flying, at least when he's shot in Halo, there's not guts everywhere. AND a study did say video gamers improve their hand-eye coordination and peripheral vision. That can't be all bad. So sez Mom...
Mom and I say: thanks for the concern. At this point, Mom sez, "I'm more worried about the effects of Sponge Bob than the effects of this game."

No plans for Multiplayer at all

Post by OldManRich »

Oh, and don't worry about multiplayer. We don't play the multiplayer mode and if anyone mods to get an advantage in multiplayer, that IS unethical. Forgive me for a fragmented reply, but Mom is ranting about her glorious son and his obvious superiority as I type this. Sorta hard to keep my thoughts straight. Remember, though, I won't take a mod onto a multiplayer site for any reason. There is an ethical angle on that, I freely admit.
Just single player, folks, just single player.

Your solution is to head over to the Utilities forum under the Halo:PC modding section, download Eschaton 0.3, and then look under the appropriate tag class and edit the value of damage.
(Tag class would be jpt! and then you'd look around in the tag editing area for a damage value)
