Profile Names In Halo

I don't know if this has anything to do with modding, but also it might.

How do people make weird symbols in their names?
Instead if just the normal alphabet and numbers, they have money symbols and other ones, how do they do that?
Do you need to mod?
Or is there another way around it.

ok th money sybol is this $ its SHIFT + 4 but yeah the sybols like wierd weird ones i dunno but its not a mod

No I don't mean normal $ symbols, I mean like the squiggily ones, like the dollar sign in The Sims, the weird 'o's with slashes through them, ect...
Can anyone help me, and tell me how you do that, even if it's not a mod.

Ok I do that all the time. What it is is alt codes. You can look for them at a search at google. Just type in alt codes and they will come up. here is my name in halo

still doesnt work. but, just press (and hold) alt, then press some numbers... on the num. pad. 1,6,8 is
